Player: Erik Sviatchenko

Nationality: Danish (born in Denmark). Although his family has Ukrainian roots, he is not a Ukrainian international.

Position: Centre-back (central defender)

Club career (high level):

• FC Midtjylland — Academy graduate and key first-team player. Broke into Midtjylland’s senior side and established himself as an important defender, contributing to domestic league success and European qualifying campaigns.
• Celtic FC — Transferred to Celtic in Scotland, where he won Scottish Premiership titles and domestic cups during his spell.
• FC Midtjylland (return) — Returned to Midtjylland after Celtic and resumed a leading defensive role, including captaincy responsibilities.
• Other moves — Later stages of his career included moves away from Midtjylland (for example to clubs in Denmark or abroad depending on the season), but Midtjylland is the club most strongly associated with him.

International career: Represented Denmark at youth levels and the senior Denmark national team, not Ukraine.

Style of play: A tall, physical centre-back known for aerial ability, leadership at the back, good positioning and experience organizing the defense. Also capable of playing in a back three or a back four and contributing to set-pieces.

Notable achievements:

• Danish Superliga titles with FC Midtjylland.
• Scottish Premiership titles and domestic cups with Celtic FC.
• Regular participant in UEFA club competition qualifying rounds and group stages with Midtjylland.

Remarks: Erik Sviatchenko is of Ukrainian descent by family background, which sometimes leads to confusion about his nationality, but he is Danish and has represented Denmark internationally. Midtjylland is the club most associated with his career and where he served as a leader in defense.
