Club: FC Porto B (commonly called Porto B)

Country: Portugal

Season (approx): 2020/21

Head coach / Manager (around 2020/21): Rui Barros

• Full name of coach: Rui Manuel Sousa Barros (commonly Rui Barros)
• Role: Head coach / manager of Porto B during part of the 2020/21 period
• Background: Former professional midfielder, notable playing career at FC Porto and AS Monaco; has held several coaching and technical roles within FC Porto's structure.

Competition (typical for Porto B): Liga Portugal 2 (second tier of Portuguese football). As a B team, Porto B is ineligible for promotion to the Primeira Liga and cannot compete in the Taça de Portugal when rules prohibit B teams.

Notable context for 2020/21:

• Porto B's squad mainly composed of youth and reserve players from FC Porto's academy (U23s and prospects).
• Season impacted by COVID-19 protocols, fixture congestion, and squad rotation to develop young players rather than prioritize results.
• Rui Barros’s remit focused on player development and bridging youth players to the first team, alongside competitive performance in Liga Portugal 2.

Typical squad features (around that era):

• Young Portuguese talents and occasional international academy prospects.
• Frequent use of loan players and players transitioning between Porto U19/U23 and the B team.
• Emphasis on technical, possession-based football in line with FC Porto’s philosophy.
