Club: Bayern Munich II

Country: Germany

Season (approx.): 2020/21

Overview:

• Bayern Munich II (often written as Bayern München II) is the reserve team of FC Bayern Munich. The team functions as a development side for young players and participates in the German league system, but cannot be promoted to the same division as the club's first team.
• In the 2020/21 period the side competed in the 3. Liga (third tier of German football). The squad is typically composed of academy graduates, younger professionals, and occasional first-team players needing match fitness.

Head Coach (around 2020/21): Holger Seitz

• Holger Seitz, a former Bayern youth coach, took charge of Bayern Munich II during this timeframe. He has been involved with Bayern's youth/reserve setup, focusing on player development and preparing younger players for the senior team.

Notable features of the 2020/21 period:

• Player development emphasis: The squad included many promising young players from Bayern's academy; the reserve side is a key stepping stone toward first-team opportunities.
• League status: Bayern II were relegated from the 3. Liga at the end of the 2019/20 season, so in the 2020/21 campaign they competed in the Regionalliga Bayern (fourth tier) aiming for immediate return. Performance and promotion attempts were oriented around rebuilding and giving game time to prospects.
• Competitions: Primarily Regionalliga Bayern matches and regional cup competitions; COVID-19 pandemic affected schedules, attendance, and logistics during this period.

Typical kit colors:

• Home: Red shirts, red shorts, red socks (Bayern traditional colors).
• Away/alternate: Varied by season (often white or dark variations consistent with Bayern first-team designs).

Stadium/Training:

• Bayern Munich II play home matches at smaller venues used by the club for youth and reserve fixtures; they also use FC Bayern's training facilities for preparation.

Role within the club:

• Serve as the bridge between Bayern's academy and the professional first team, giving young players competitive senior football exposure while remaining under the FC Bayern development system.
